Saint Barthélemy, 7 October 2025. This morning the fourth edition of the Heart performing arts festival was officially presented, which this year introduces as its main novelty the staging of some of its shows in the Playa Honda Urban Park, a space inaugurated as a cultural venue with this event. The festival, with free admission, which again combines sustainability, inclusion and citizen participation, will take place on the upcoming Friday 17 and Saturday 18 of Octoberand.

The press conference featured the presence of Jesús Machín, Councillor for Culture of the Lanzarote Council; Isidro Perez, Mayor of San Bartolomé; Carmen Medina, Councilor for Culture, Social Services and Seniors of the San Bartolomé City Council; Héctor Fernández, CEO of Spel – Turismo Lanzarote; and Yvonne Thiery, Festival Director.

Heart beats again in the streets, with a program that brings together companies of national and international prestige, that have taken their shows both inside and outside Spain. An edition in which, in addition, the educational role of the festival is strengthened: the Pum Pum Heart activity, carried out in collaboration with all the primary schools in the municipality, will bring together more than 250 schoolchildren on Friday. Joining, this activity, the elderly of the municipality, making it a great intergenerational gathering.

In the words of Yvonne Thiery, the event director, 'this fourth edition is very special for us: we debut the Playa Honda Urban Park as a venue', Besides the avenue that welcomes us so warmly each year; we involve the entire educational community of the municipality and continue to support a sustainable and inclusive cultural model. In addition, we focus on tourism promotion, because Heart is not just a festival, it is an experience capable of attracting visitors and showing another side of Lanzarote.

Sustainability continues to be a hallmark of the festival, with measures that ensure zero-emission performances, participatory carbon footprint calculation, renewable energy for technical supply and environmental awareness activities. Inclusion also remains at the core of the project, con la participación de intérpretes de lengua de signos y propuestas artísticas diseñadas para todos los públicos.

El alcalde de San Bartolomé, Isidro Perez, señaló que “para San Bartolomé es motivo de satisfacción que el Parque Urbano de Playa Honda se inaugure como escenario cultural con un evento del calibre de Heart. Queremos que la población disfrute de este encuentro que sitúa a nuestro municipio en el mapa cultural de Canarias”. Y es que “San Bartolomé es un municipio referente en las artes escénicas en Lanzarote, puesto que anualmente, se desarrolla la Semana del Teatro, una cita que este año cumplió su edición número 17. Esta cuarta propuesta de Heart recogerá el guante y será, sin lugar a dudas, una convocatoria exitosa”.

Likewise, la concejala de Cultura, Social Services and Seniors of the San Bartolomé City Council, Carmen Medina, puntualizó que “las artes escénicas tienen una capacidad única para unir a jóvenes y mayores. En cada proyecto intergeneracional, los jóvenes aportan energía, creatividad y nuevas miradas, mientras que las personas mayores transmiten experiencia, memoria y sabiduría. Esa interacción fortalece el tejido social y genera una comunidad más cohesionada, participativa y solidaria, y ése es el espíritu de heart”.

On the other hand,, el consejero de Cultura del Cabildo de Lanzarote, Jesús Machín, destacó que “Heart representa un modelo de festival que queremos seguir respaldando desde el Cabildo: un proyecto innovador que suma arte, sostenibilidad e inclusión. No hablamos solo de espectáculos, sino de un espacio de convivencia y de participación que fortalece la cohesión social. Lanzarote necesita propuestas como esta para seguir creciendo culturalmente en todos sus municipios”.

Desde el ámbito turístico, el CEO de Spel – Turismo Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández, subrayó: “este festival trasciende lo local y ofrece una experiencia diferenciadora, vinculando turismo, arte y sostenibilidad. Es una cita que contribuye directamente al posicionamiento de Lanzarote como destino cultural de referencia, perfectamente alineado con nuestra estrategia, dirigida a un turista más sensible y consciente”.

La programación de esta cuarta edición incluirá disciplinas como danza, theatre, clown, music, performance y propuestas de calle, todas ellas con el sello característico de Heart: accesibles, sustainable and designed for the whole family.

Among others, featured artists include Murmuyo and their shows 'Ami-Go' and 'Fisura'; Raúl Magic with 'The Magic of Dreaming' and Gonzalo Santamaría with his 'Power of the 80s'; as well as renowned companies such as Anna Confetti and her show 'A la fresca', or Brincadeira and their 'Glowdrums'.

Organized by Arenao Producciones, the festival is sponsored by Tourism Lanzarote and the Lanzarote Council, and with the collaboration of San Bartolomé City Council and companies such as Relaxia and Chacón.
